The AHRD HRD Scholar Hall of Fame Award represents the highest recognition for individuals who have focused their scholarly endeavors in an exemplary manner and for an extended period of time on one or more definable areas related to human resource development. Beyond the expected levels of scholarly activity, individuals receiving the Award must have demonstrably advanced knowledge about the field and through their efforts have influenced the actions of other researchers and possibly practitioners as well.
Examples of demonstrably advancing human resource development may include one or more of the following instances. The individual's scholarly efforts have:
- Extended an established research topic in a new way, and has attracted other researchers to pursue the same or related topic.
- Identified an original line of research, or reinvigorated an established line not recently considered, and attracted other researchers to pursue it as well.
- Influenced practitioners to engage in new practices based on the implications of the research.
- Has developed significantly new research-based HRD-related products or processes, designed to influence some aspect of human resource development.
Recipients of the Award will be recognized at the AHRD International Conference in the Americas, receive a plaque and a place of honor on the AHRD website, and receive a complimentary AHRD membership and conference admission for the year of the Award.
In turn, the recipient will be expected to share reflections about their research journey through a brief presentation at the Conference and would be encouraged to share those reflections in greater depth as an article in the non-refereed Forum section of the Human Resource Development Quarterly.
