Chairs: Tom Garavan and Caleb Han
The purpose of the AHRD Forward Award is to encourage and recognize significant, pioneering, landmark, and/or boundary-spanning efforts in the field of Human Resource Development. The AHRD Forward Award may be awarded for a book, series of works, patent, media, podcast, or another artifact which has been produced and propagated by a person, program, or other entity with the explicit intent of moving HRD forward in a way that transcends contemporary thinking and narratives in the field. There are no constraints on the status or rank of the potential recipients of this award, meaning it may be given to a student, professor, scholar-practitioner, administrator, policymaker—any new or established member of the HRD community, all alike. Likewise, the award may be given in recognition of one work or contribution or in recognition of a group of works and contributions amassed over a period of time or by multiple stakeholders. The AHRD Forward Award may be, but is not required to be, given annually, and nomination or receipt of the AHRD Forward Award neither qualifies nor disqualifies one from nomination or receipt of any other Academy Award in the same or future years. More than one award may be given in a single year if multiple qualified nominations are submitted.
Award Criteria
- Any individuals or group of individuals nominated for this award must be current members of the Academy of Human Resource Development. If the nominee is a program, institution, or other entity, the entity must be able to demonstrate clear connections and ongoing commitments to the field of HRD and/or the Academy of HRD.
- In addition to the description outlined in the award purpose and objectives, the work(s) which potentially qualify the nominee for the award must be substantial in nature. In this context, substantial is defined as having an immediate and significant impact on the function or understanding of the field of HRD and/or the Academy of HRD. The work(s), or the culminating contribution, product, or event resulting from those works, must also be recent, within 1-2 years of nomination.
